Hi, Iโ€™m a 40 year old man from Norway. And want to move to Thailand. I have a income of c.a 102000 baht monthly. Before taxes. Iโ€™m retired/disabled. What are my chances for getting a visa. And what kind? Do I just go to immigration?

Hey everyone, Iโ€™d really appreciate some advice on my visa situation ๐Ÿ™

My situation in short:

* ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช German, 29 years old

* ๐ŸŽ“ Officially a student (Bachelor in Applied AI) at an online University in Germany

* ๐Ÿ’ป Also working part-time remotely for a German company (but I donโ€™t have an official letter saying I can work from Thailand)

* ๐ŸฅŠ Planning to join a Muay Thai school for several months

* ๐Ÿ“Currently staying in Thailand on a tourist visa

* โœˆ๏ธ I need to leave Thailand by 20 November

* ๐Ÿ’ฐ Bank statement proof (up to 500,000 THB) is no problem

* ๐ŸŽฏ Goal: stay long-term (ideally DTV-Visa for 5 years, but 6 months would already help)

* ๐Ÿ’ธ Looking for a low-cost, transparent process โ€“ I know official DTV fees are 350 EUR, but agencies quote me 1,000 EUR+, which feels excessive

My questions:

* Has anyone successfully applied for a DTV-Visa themselves (without agency help)?

* Do you know a reliable Visa-Agency that charges a fair price?

* Is it possible to find a Muay Thai school that can provide the official *Letter of Education/Proof of Enrollment* directly, without going through an agency?

* Or is it true that self-applications usually cause issues with the Thai authorities?

Any tips or personal experiences would help me a lot. Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™Œ

Working on retiring to Thailand next year. A couple of questions

1 - Showing income requirements for renewal every year, can I use an income letter from Irish Embassy and therefore escape having to use Thai banking system with all its issues.

2 - do I still have to have Health insurance as I will be showing funds larger than the 800k baht needed.

Hi. I'm currently getting prepared to submit an application for a non o retirement visa to the Thai embassy in London using the e-visa system. For proof of current residence I was planning to upload a copy of my annual council tax bill which is dated April of this year. Please can anyone who has recent experience confirm that this will be acceptable. I couldn't find any list of acceptable documents on the website. I know there is a reference to utility bills but given my payment period for these they wouldn't necessarily be that up to date. Thank you

Hey everyone,

Iโ€™m a German citizen currently preparing my DTV application at the Thai Consulate in Munich and would love to hear your thoughts or experiences.

* Iโ€™m still officially employed by a German company, but Iโ€™ve been laid off and will be on paid garden leave from Nov 1, 2025 to Feb 28, 2026.

* I already landed my first freelance gig (starting Oct 15, 2025), earning โ‚ฌ1,600/month, with a written contract and confirmation that I can work remotely and from abroad. I have a German business registration (currently as side business until I switch to main business by March 2026).

* Financial evidence & document indicating current location are not an issue.

I am additionally planning to submit:

* Cover letter

* Screenshots of my website (with my services)

* Screenshots of my Upwork profile (with my services)

Question:

Should I mention my current employment and garden leave until Feb 2026 in my motivation letter?

* If I don't, I am worried because I can't yet provide proof if income as freelancer (as I will only issue my first freelancer invoice beginning of November)

* If I do, Iโ€™m worried it might raise questions or lead to requests for confirmation from my employer โ€“ which I probably canโ€™t get.

Any opinion is appreciated. :)

Thanks

Hello, quick question, I am planning to submit my application for DTV in Hanoi, for remote work.

Regarding the documents required to prove ongoing relationship with clients (contract with client, letter from client saying that you can work from thailand, etc.) do these documents need to be written in English, or can I provide original documents and letters in my native language (since my client is located in France), along with a translation made by myself ?

Thanks for any advices :)
