Well that was fun.

1 year O A extension at Nonthaburi

Everything by the book. Went a week before and got a printed list of the documents required. Nothing unusual. Bank book with today’s date, passport, bank letter, insurance certificate.

Go to bank to get book updated and letter

Then to office.

SURPRISE!

also yellow book, wife’s IC (!?), copy of TM30, a 15 minute negation on whether or not a number greater than 800k is….greater than….800k

And then a 1 hour wait as the clerk forgets to call that the passport is ready.

Learnings:

1). Update bank book FIRST. that way if for some odd reason it doesn’t give today’s date you can sort it at the counter -1 stop

2). No matter what the office says for paperwork bring EVERYTHING and make a copy of EVERYTHING.

anyway, good for another year. Jan I start the LTR as I really do not want to go thru this rubbish every year.

Hi hopefully quick question i read a lot about people's visa under consideration is this just for marriage visa or retirement also.

I qualify for both and was on retirement visa for 12 years before we moved back to the UK. We are moving back next year is the marriage visa still a pain ? Or would it be just as easy to get retirement again, will have fund either way.

But this under consideration is baffling me. Because we are selling everything in the UK and last thing I want is any problems.

Thanks in advance

Not so much a Visa question. Driver license in Thailand. Does everyone that has one have two cards? Recently didn’t realize they were different and had the car one while on the bike.

Police let me go because it was a drug stop. He showed me his license.

Hi everyone,

I’m a British citizen living in Thailand and I’m planning to renew my UK passport from here.

I read this article from Pattaya Mail about the process, and it mentions that proof of address in Thailand must be from the Thai or UK government (like a Thai driving licence, pink residency card, or correspondence from a UK authority).

I don’t have a Thai driving licence or a pink ID card — only a TM30 from my landlord showing my registered address.

For anyone who has *recently* renewed their British passport from within Thailand, was the TM30 enough as proof of address, or did you have to get something else (like a letter from immigration, bank, or local council)?

Any tips or recent experience would really help. Thanks!

Tomorrow will be the 10th business day since I first raised and paid for my DTV my application (Royal Thai Embassy Manila).

The timeline is

14 Oct - applied/paid

16 Oct - request for further docs (2) / submitted same day

20 Oct - request for further doc (1) / submitted same day

I have seen from posts here before to follow up only after the 10th business day has elapsed. Does anyone what channels /contact info to use to follow up from the Manila embassy? Of course, I'm hoping i wont have to do all this and that the approval is out hopefully by tomorrow.

----

Received approval 31st Oct, a 13-day turn-around time since the application was lodged.

Thank you!

I hope someone can help me with this. I came in using a Visa exempt on arrival. Later I got it changed to a marriage Visa ( I think ) it expired Oct 28. So I thought by then I would get the year Visa. I have already got the funds into the Bank but instead I got the under consideration that says I must be back in on Nov 27 for my year stamp. My problem is using the Oct date I thought I'd be alright so I purchased a round trip ticket to America leaving Oct 31. We called about a week ago and explained it to the IO working with us. He said that he would put me on fast track so I could get it in time. We called today and ask him and he said it was still in process. I have all week until Friday so that might still work out. Just in case it doesn't does anyone know of anything I can do. Can I buy a reentry permit being under consideration. What different options does the group suggest. Thanks to everyone in advance

*I would appreciate advice. I am arriving by air into Bangkok for a 10-day stay in 2025. I will have a visa exemption (60-days). I possess a valid driver’s license (auto) including an international driver’s permit. Will an agency be able to assist obtaining a driver’s license (auto) in Thailand for a foreigner?*
