Hi All,

I have been in Thailand for 60 days and have 30 day extension. I will be flying to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in the next fortnight with my Thai partner for 3 to 4 days before returning to Thailand.

Any suggestions for accommodation (preferably not too far from the airport) and sightseeing advice. TIA

Rant alert….

I love all the questions about "how many times can I enter visa exempt".

They're almost always followed by comments of "I did three this year" or "I did 10 so far and have no issues - so you'll be fine".

No one can answer this question with any authority. That's because there is no rule. There is no limit. It is completely up to the discretion of the immigration officer you hand your passport to on arrival.

The guys that had no issue were probably dealing with Sheila. She's happy in her life and likes to think foreigners are good for the economy.

Those that have issues are the ones that hand it to Brian. He's having a bad hair day and about to get his car repossessed. He's apt to take out his depression on foreigners that try to enter his country twice in a calendar year. For no other reason than he's having a bad hair day.

Obviously those two scenarios are made up by me, but that's the type of issues you could encounter at an immigration counter where you have no idea whether you're dealing with Sheila or Brian (and I'm not trying to be sexist in any way here - make up your own names or genders).

No one can answer this type of question. One person could have got in 23 times this year with no issue, but someone else could be questioned or even denied on their second attempt. The latter is probably far fetched but in theory it could happen. We don't know and we can't say, because it's at the discretion of the individual officer.

Dentist in BKK or Pattaya. Since Im gonna need receding gums sorting out in a year or two, might be worth using this to get a DTV. Can anyone please recommend a good dentist that they have used to get this grim work undertaken? My dentist in the UK reckons its a no-fun series of treatments. Im back in the Kingdom very soon so can drop in for a review at a suitable dentists and get the related paperwork for a DTV application. Thanks.

Not visa advice but medical. My Thai g/f has bad arthritis in her knees, has anyone on here had a similar issue in thailand ? She’s 59 and has been countless times to various Thai hospitals for treatment and it’s always the same. take blood, X-rays, injections etc, I said she needs a knee replacement but she and the doctors are against it, she’s in constant pain from it and has tried most of the alternative fixes, creams, patches, injections, massage, etc non working, just had 6 visits to a clinic in Bkk for treatment and things are still the same,. I’m reluctant to pay thousands of baht for a private knee opp in a Bkk hospital when she as a Thai citizen can get it for free or little cost at a public Thai hospital, and before you start calling me a cheap Charlie I’ve thrown thousands of baht at this problem for years to no avail, fed up of going around in circles and need it sorting once and for all, any advice on costs of doing it private/public and the outcome at the end Tia,.
