Can UK citizens apply for the Muay Thai soft power visa in Indonesia while on a tourist visa?

Hi.

I’m a UK citizen currently in Indonesia and looking to apply here via the Muay Thai soft power Route. Is it possible as I’ve just read somewhere you must be a resident to apply there? But also a friend got approved here 6 weeks ago and he was just on a tourist visa so not sure.

Thanks for any response, and any advice for applying in Jakarta would be good.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, UK citizens can apply for the Muay Thai soft power visa in Indonesia even while on a tourist visa, as being a resident is not a requirement for this application. It has been confirmed by multiple users who have successfully completed the application process without being long-term residents. It’s advisable to have your entry stamp, visa, and proof of stay ready when applying, as the Jakarta embassy may request additional documentation related to your interest in Muay Thai.

Only certain nationalities are required to be long-residents of Indonesia to apply. There is a list on their website, but UK is def. not one of them listed for this requirement. Tends to be some African countries and some South Asian countries. One thing to be forewarned, the Jakarta embassy often comes back asking for photos and/or other proof of your past interest in Muay Thai.

You do not need to be a resident. 100s of posts of approvals from non residents.
