can I correct you about BUPA/AETNA ? They give cover for life if you joined them before 60, not 65 as you mentioned. I joined 20 years ago at age 59 and no exclusions as I was healthy at that time. Now 78 and the annual premium is 207,000 baht. And going up. BUPA gave great service. Not so with AETNA in my opinion.

Depending on your age, location and what type of insurance you are seeking. For health insurance I would not recommend AETNA.

I would not recommend AETNA health insurance ( previously known as BUPA THAILAND). Depending on your age of course, the annual premiums are VERY expensive. If you are here on a non O-A visa you must also have outpatient cover of 40,000 baht.

What about Thai people over 40 without these health conditions who do not live near a City and do not have their name in a house book from the province where they actually live ?

Pattaya has a curfew. Not allowed out of the house between the hours of 9 pm and 4 am.

If you look back at the stats before the introduction of compulsory OPD health insurance for farangs. There were no live in expats in the list. It was all people from neighboring countries and tourists who were escaping without paying. What security was in place at those hospitals ?

To those sarcastic responses. Typical in this forum. I asked a simple question because I had never heard of it before. Perhaps I should have Googled first. Just shows you how cynical the members can be.
