It can be a problem, but who knows... Every embassy/consulate has different policies. Better to ask first to the embassy/consulte that you want to apply to be sure about the requirements on this moment.

 Multiple reports of unsuccessful DTV on some embassies (Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, Netherlands, Spain...)

Braces are not considered medical treatment for most of the embassies. You can try but probably you will loose 10k baht
