It has nothing to do with having a return /exit ticket.

You get the TM6 on the flight in. It is the 2nd
***
of the entry card and the number on it is matched to the entry card.

I'm not sure about providing links in this group (several of my previous posts with informational links have disappeared) but there is a group for on-line teachers working in Thailand.

If you don't need to worry about the visa and want something do to then teaching on-line it is an option from the comfort of your own home that immigration has stated they will ignore.

There is work and there is legal work (proper visa and/or work permit).

Young folks on gap year exercises have no worry about 20 hours in a van, regular border hops and the adventure of a year in Thighland.

.

For us older folks it is usually a bit different. We are no longer immortal or indestructible and our daily blogs about teach 'n travel don't reach out to anyone. The thought of 20 hours in a van running hither and thither on a Thai highway are not the thrills and adventure we typically seek.

If you are flying in and have an actual visa they are highly unlikely to ask to see proof of funds (especially unlikely if you are from the EU).

Or you can fly in-out-in a dozen times a year and no issue at all.

Currently there is no limit on air travel arrivals with 30-day stamps.

If you are married then she will get a non-O based on marriage.

Authenticated copy of the marriage cert is required.

If you are not legally married then there is no long-term option for her.

Regular flights out and in (no limit like land crossings), 4 SETV's per year or METV.

You get the TM6 card when you fly in. It is part of the arrival/departure card that you fill in when you enter.

It is usually placed or stapled into your passport when you go through passport control and IS needed EVERY time you go to immigration for anything.

Not sure about getting the work permit on a guardian visa but getting a work permit as a teacher at a formal school or informal school (government or private) will require a bachelor degree.

You can get by without the degree if you are working at a non-formal education center (less than 7 students enrolled simultaneously (private schools act)).

.

The TEFL course makes no difference. It is NOT a requirement to teach in Thailand.

Thailand is not a signatory to the apostille treaty so the apostille is not recognized as certification/authentication in Thailand.

Go to the embassy and get them to either "authenticate it" or swear an affidavit of authenticity in front of the consular officer.

You then go to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Government Complex (Chengwattana) and get their stamp on it.

Now you are authenticated and good for use in Thailand.
