Is it common for Thai immigration not to provide a receipt for visa payments, and does this lead to corruption?

Only absurd thing was that each time I gave 2000 baht for 1900 baht visa extension fee no one returned 100 baht to me. This happened at Udon Thani immigration. I started to give exact 1900 baht now

yes, don't waste your time, they won't respond. Not sure if this is the way thai consulates work. My flight is about 9 days from now, I have no visa and no thai pass yet, just waiting.

LA Thai consulate is very slow for sure and they never reply any type of inquiries including phone or email. I assume they are overwhelmed with visa applications.

API SERVER ERROR solved: 1) used a new email address

2) put a few spaces after every possible text you enter (can't do with email address)

3) it went through this time. It says. Success.. We will send you a QR code after evaluating...

Almost everyone apply for visa first or obtain it first unless you plan to enter to thailand with a visa exempt status. For visa exempt apply for thai pass without visa. If you need visa then apply for it first, in some cases you may actually need visa info during thai pass application.
