A 90 day report was due, when I was hospitalized. My wife called immigration, then took my passport to immigration. They understood the situation.

A renewal might be different.

Only Bangkok bank has a US routing number. The other banks use a SWIFT code. On MyPay the last time I checked, the interface was routing number and account number.

If you don’t already have a Bangkok Bank account, then when setting up the account don’t tell them that the account will be used for a government direct deposit. The bank will shut down electronic features and require you to get money in person.

I use a government direct deposit into a Bangkok account.

I brought one from America in 2013, the only paperwork check was done by the airline before departing.

Check with the airline and have all required government documents, just in case.

Just a reminder of the dangers of driving with an expired DL.

SS has some qualification requirements, US residence or payment into SS for many quarters.

Living in the village can be very difficult. The in-laws can try your patience.

If I had to do it over again, then I’d live in a bigger city within an hour or so of my wife’s village. That way she can visit anytime.

for now, banks should not be able to just stuff down accounts.

IDPs are just a money grab. There is no additional training or requirements, just pay a fee and get a permit.
