Yes same for Australia but as it turns out it is much safer here than back at home anyway so that wasn't very good advice was it? Surely much smarter to let people stay in place rather than travel around internationally if there's such a high contagion risk? The advice was for tourists to return home, not for those with a reason to stay like work and family.
Examples include being unable to afford the high airfares for a big family. Mixed nationality couples who cannot return home together. People who genuinely feel safer here than at home. For Australians it can be impossible to go home because of government restrictions on numbers entering and quarantine facilities cannot cope. There's many other reasons as well, read some of the articles about why people are stuck overseas at the moment. I'm not stuck, I'm working but I know many people who are genuinely stuck. Some have had multiple flights cancelled and cannot even get their money back. Your attitude is somewhat ignorant as well as lacking in empathy.
