My boyfriend, who is Spanish, applied for the DTV (Workation) visa back in July. At first, he made a mistake with his middle name, which cost him money. Then he applied again—we double-checked the form to make sure all the information was correct and attached all the required documents. We resubmitted the application and paid the visa fee again.

The next day, we emailed them to confirm they had received his application and asked if they needed any additional documents. We kept following up every week, checking the application status online for 20 days. Eventually, we couldn’t wait any longer because he plans to travel on August 18.

We sent another follow-up email yesterday (and again today), but got no reply until today—when they finally responded asking for additional documents.

In summary: you really have to push them to get updates. We have tried calling many times, but they never pick up the phone.

I’m Thai, and honestly, I’m also very disappointed with the slow processing from the Thai embassy.

We’ve been trying to review the application again for the mistake, but unfortunately, nothing has changed. The system only shows that the name is incorrect, but there is no information about a rejection status. However, we’ve decided to proceed with a new application.

From my personal experience applying for visas to Europe — both tourist and cohabitation visas via VFS for Germany and Belgium — they usually inform you of any mistakes or request additional documents without charging an extra fee. That’s why I was confused: if the visa hasn’t been officially rejected yet, why can’t we just correct the information?

After reading posts from others in this group, I now understand that we likely have to start the whole process again from the beginning.
