There are agents for border run from Pattaya same day. I think it was 5.500 baht. Minivan to border and back around 10 hours.

Seems like a potential red flag for immigration officials and unnecessary trouble if it can be avoided.

the best country to apply is your home country.

The contract should be enough if it’s specifically mentioned your allowed to work remotely.

Otherwise get a letter from your employer stating your allowed to work from Thailand.

Is it worth using an agent for DTV visa applications in Thailand?

If you have the requirements there is no need for an agent.

If you go the softpower route I highly recommend an agent, seems like they are especially cautious with that route.
