TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion confirms that it is possible to cross the border to Malaysia and re-enter Thailand on the same day while holding a DTV visa. However, participants emphasize that this action does not extend the visa but provides a new entry stamp. Some users suggest that it's safer to join a border run group, while others indicate it's feasible to do it independently. Clarifications point out that customs may inform travelers they need to stay out for one full day, but there are conflicting experiences from those who successfully re-entered the same day.

I havent done it myself but know a group of 6 people that do this together every time they've reset. Out and back in same day. They make an adventure out of it. They never use agents lol. All these people trying to make money on people's ignorance is a sad business.

Yes you can, but you will get a new entry stamp, it's not an extension

You talk about "reentry", yes you can. But this is not "extend"

it's funny how the people trying to make money always say you can't do something that you can, unless you pay for it. I'll make sure to tell people to avoid your school.

Anonymous participant 907 please stay anonymous. If you’re absolutely sure about Thailand’s immigration rules, show us your real name.

Please study Thailand’s official immigration rules:

Self border run are not limited—but repeating same‑day exits and re‑entries may lead to increased scrutiny or refusal .

Same‑day border runs by land, e.g., sometimes incur a overcharge at the border and risk denial .

Some border crossings now require at least two nights abroad before re‑entry.

---

🔹 Conclusion: You can do border runs with companies or on your own. Same-day runs on your own are riskier and may incur extra overcharge fees. Thank you 😊

I'm anonymous because this is a public group. If it were set to private, I wouldn't be. You're just trying to make money off of people when there is no issue. So your opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. You'll say anything to make more money.

Have you guys done it? Because I was told by customs that you need to stay out for 1 day. Like you can't re-enter on the same calendar day as you leave

A year ago they did not allow me in at Padeng Besar at the same day, but at that time I was on visa exempt, still valid for 20 days or so.
