Foreigners in Thailand have to have their location reported wherever they stay. Hotels do it automatically. It's the landlord's responsibility to report ALL foreigners.

I'd go to your local office in advance and pick up the current list of requirements as they change from time to time ... and they differ from one office to another.

There's been talk of same sex civil unions coming to Thailand (but I wouldn't hold your breath!).

In the meantime, forming a company with your lady, studying, popping in and out at intervals ... these seem to be the main options. Unless you can afford thailand elite visa, there's little else at the moment.

Although there's unlimited air entries ... in practice, after a while, you'll be pulled over and refused. There's no number to give you as it's down to the individual immigration officer, but if you're in and out too often, beware!

yes you can. I have had 2 Thai visa debit cards - all obtained whilst on visa exempt entries. Having said that, I'd always go to open your account with a Thai friend.

2 land crossings in a calendar year. Theoretically unlimited air entries.

HOWEVER if it starts to look like you're not on the correct visa, or staying too long, you can unexpectedly get refused.
