It needs to sit in a Thai bank account for atleast 2 months I believe (the 800k) . You can change visa without leaving the country check the process here :
Being young you would likely to want to travel. I suggest come to Thailand on a tourist visa ( apply inside Canada) to get 60 days and extend that for another month. That gives you 3 months here and then travel outside Thailand and come back in with another 30 days. Then decide whether you actually want to be here long term
