I would love to visit the south but it's just too volatile . Do some reading on the insurgency in the south and you will be surprised . It's been quiet for a while now but make sure you know what your heading into .

Thats if you apply in Australia . Apply in Thailand and there is no insurance requirement.

Non O in country requires no insurance . If that has changed it hasn't been advertised on any of the Thai Visa forums i have seen.
Steve ********
No , it's only required for Chinese and Indians.

You can ride , but there may be consequences if you do. Possible 500 baht fine if stopped by Police and insurance void if there is an accident.

I am considering the same thing for when i move there next year. I want to get a second hand car as i want to do a few road trips and see some of the country i havent seen yet. Once i settle though i am more inclined to ride a scooter but that works for me as i ride them a lot and i am single. It's actually exactly the same as i have in Australia . My car hardly gets used and i use my scooter most of the time. But i keep the car ( and i get free rego being a pensioner ) for rainy days and longer trips. I love having both.

As long as the incoming flight is on time should be fine . Also helpful if your luggage is checked through on the same ticket.

You keep saying the same thing every time this question comes up. I dont see how someone elses overstay makes it difficult for the so called " genuine " people . Do you think all expats or tourists are going to rounded up and have their credentials checked because some person overstayed a few days ? Where or how does the " difficulty " manifest ?
