TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the feasibility of making flight connections during short layovers, particularly a 1-hour layover in Korea. Many contributors share their experiences and insights, noting that while it is generally possible to make a connection in this time frame if flights are on time, it can be risky. Factors such as luggage handling, airline cooperation, and airport efficiency are discussed. A common sentiment is to allow for longer layovers, with recommendations of at least 2-3 hours to avoid stress, especially if the flights are booked separately. Overall, while some people successfully make their connections, there are challenges and uncertainties involved.

Yes, it is a common connection and they do hold the plane for you unless your plane is severely delayed. Also, the incoming long haul flight almost always arrives significantly earlier than the scheduled arrival time, so that 1 hour connection actually gives you more like 75-80 minutes. I've done it many times and learned that I don't even have to run like a madman to make it.

When you first apply for a non-o 3 month retirement visa , does the 800k baht need to be seasoned for two months previously or is that only when you apply for the 1 year extension?

I made it in 45 min..
Pete *******
You will make it, your bags probably not...

@Pete ******
another good reason to not check bags

If all goes according to plan, but that is very tight.
Bob *******
Same itinerary, you’re fine. Separate booking could be trouble
Myles *******
If same airline shouldnt be prob. They will rush you off plane and onto next and delay if needed for a while.
Andrew *******
that's fine.

Fine if the connecting flight is on time. Now-a-days that is a bigger risk.

I have never had any issues with 45-1 hour layover in Korea. This is by far the best airport to travel to Thailand through.

Icn airport extremely easy to conx thru and 50 min is ok as long as flights are on time. However if you are coming in from USA or Europe and conx there then it could be a problem as flight times are currently taking 75min-120min longer due to Russian airspace is closed and the other route runs into serious headwinds.

yes happened to me 5 min to get to next flight Asiana. Yhey said nothing as we ran but got there . oh yeah delayed 2 hours would have been nice to know

The airline you’re connecting with will have a representative there waiting for you as soon as you exit the plane your landing on ,( there will be others making the transfer too) and then they’ll take you as a group too customs ,,,you’ll be fastracked

Happened too about a dozen of us in Hong Kong in September,,,,,Honk Kong airport is still totally closed and still because of covid

I did once. Just barely made it. I won't do it again! If I tried to use the restroom between flights I'd have missed my flight!

Done50 minutes in Dubai few years ago , made gate just , no problem really , bag getting transferred , airlines will not let that hold luggage be on that flight with out you , think about that ,! You don’t show and airline has your bag on board , they need to find that bag in there hold and remove it , terrorism stuff , not easy to do that , . Airline will make sure your transferring, signs up everywhere , the only and a major hassle is you’ll be stressed badly , very badly .

We had 1 hour in Bangkok on way to Phnom Penh, we made it as there was someone there to meet us and get us to the gate asap, our bags sadly didn’t make it and we didn’t receive them for 2 days
Chris **********
We had 2 hours in Jordan . Plenty of time

As long as the incoming flight is on time should be fine . Also helpful if your luggage is checked through on the same ticket.
Jason ********
Good luck. I've learned to never book with less than a 3 hour layover. You may need to run🏃‍♂️

I’ve got 55 min in Qatar. Also a bit concerned.

Ive done that trip, it’s fine. They will hold the plane a little if you’re delayed. It’s only a problem if there is a big delay at departure from LHR

It seems like if we are ontime with the first flight, we should be okay.. but if it's delayed getting there, we might be screwed on catching the flight.

@Joe ********
LHR to HKT was a good 20+ min walk between gates in Doha September

Yes.

In addition, I'd add to sit in the front of the plane and notify the lead stewardess that you have a short transit time.

Assuming you're flying on the same airline, don't have to re-check bags, and your flight out isn't delayed; you should be fine. 🙃

YMMV
