Do I need to show a hand-drawn map for a Non-O retirement visa extension in Thailand, and how detailed should it be?

Hi , In regards to the 800,000 seasoned 2 months prior and 3 months post extension application of a Non O retirement Visa and the freedom to drop that to 400,000 for the remaining 7 months , this has to occur for every extension application even for consecutive years is that right ?

Also on the "Extension Retirement " often posted in here it states under " required documents " a hand drawn map showing applicants address . Are we talking something like this ? How detailed does that have to be ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of extending a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand requires you to maintain a bank balance of 800,000 THB two months prior and three months after the application, which can be adjusted to 400,000 THB for the remaining eleven months. This requirement applies to every extension, regardless of how many years you have been extending your visa. Regarding the documentation, a hand-drawn map showing your address is needed, although the required detail can vary by immigration office. Experiences shared by others suggest that a simple drawing suffices, but it's best to verify with your local office.

Well this is a whole new level on the Visa Extension process. I thought my main concern was money and banking , now i have to go to art and computer school to learn how to draw maps . ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ๐Ÿ˜‚

You can just draw one by hand, that's fine too

So is the map another one of those requirements that varies by immigration office? Or maybe it applies only to Non O retirement visas? I've extended an O-A a couple times in Pattaya with no mention of a map requirement. I'll be extending for the first time this year in the Lampang office. I'll be checking with them beforehand.

Yes, you have to make the whole same (unless your immigration office makes updates) set of required documents for every extension application. Every 1-year extension application is a new one, regardless of your second or 10th.

How detailed your hand-drawn map is depends on the Immigration office, you need to check with your local immigration office. The photo of your map is good enough for the Bangkok office.

There are many interesting , amusing and sometimes baffling requirements in the LoS . The hand drawn map will now be joining that list ....for me anyway. :-)

I prepared and printed a detailed Google map and a crappy hand drawn one for Hua Hin immigration and they were not interested in the really good Google one, just my drawing. It's a bit baffling, but it was no problem, so I think your map should be okay.

Yesterday at Nakhon Savan immi I started to draw the Map on the special paper with address and name on it they have. After 30 seconds the women took it and draw it by herself. It would be magic someone will find my house with helping from her map. Seldom seen something like this. Nothing was right. My map showed significant spots from the highway/main Street and everything else. Her map was so wrong.....

But ey, she happy I happy. ๐Ÿ˜

I was thinking the Google map would be far superior to a hand drawn one . There's some Thai logic there somewhere , i just don't know where to find it . ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜.... Found it

ei came through . I kind of thought that might be behind it , but it would be best if they made you draw it in front of them so your not just copying a Google map onto paper . ๐Ÿค”

I think Ellie has summed up the reason perfectly in her response to me, but I could hand draw a map using Google, so I am still not convinced it achieves much.

These are the rules and I am sure we are all happy to comply, even if they are a bit baffling at times.

Yes i was just writing something to that effect at the same time. But yes we do as requested and walk away smiling . ๐Ÿ˜

yes and the immigration staff have been really helpful and friendly with me. They have a job to do and if an extra copy of this or that or a map is required, it's okay with me. Let's put it this way, it is much easier to get a long term visa in Thailand than many other countries and the rules/staff are a joy in comparison to other places too.

, what they might want to know is not the actual location, but if you really know where you are supposed to be living. (to prevent fraud application). That's why a print-out map doesn't work, or at least this is what I understand.

That sheet is only 'general' information that MOST offices require. As in the sheet, you need to get the handout of exact requirements from your local office.
