If you enter with Tourist Medical Visa, then you can get further extension. Usually 90 days granted. However it entirely depends on how long the physician wants to continue with patient. Rules and policies changes over time to time. Best is to clarify with the marketing team at the hospital about this matter. I saw in the past a patient stayed one year extension.

hospitals like Bamrungrad, Bangkok General and so on have intern’l marketing team. Just visit them, they will prepare all documents for you. All you need to do pay bills full in advance.

You need to confirm appointment and package with a well known hospital or clinic. Not every private or government hospital can do it. This is typically a tourist visa in purpose of medical treatment. Hospitals/clinics will provide you a visa request letter that you need to submit at Thai Embassy in KL. This visa can further extension depend on your physician.

Of course I have insurance. It is neither price check nor insurance coverage matter. A patient when admitted to emergency unit and has no consciousness, rather that person needs a life saving support first. You guys might not face such emergency situation unless you understand what is “state of unconsciousness” mean? Their attitudes liked they need all consents from me before I die. FYI severe abdominal pain cause high blood pressure (mine was that time) lead to heart attack or stroke. Majority of private hospitals/clinics in Thailand are careless to the patients. Later took a proper treatment at Queen Savang Vadhana (Govt hospital) That completely reversed experience. Sympathy and services from doctors, nurses and staffs were outstanding. In fact previous hospital did wrong lab tests and prescribe unnecessary medicines.

It is not only at skincare, dental, private hospitals and even pet clinics thrive for money. Recently I admitted with a severe abdominal pain in a private hospital. At emergency unit, I was unconscious due to extreme pain. Hospital admin and nurses were busy with expenses list, keep asking me whether I was able to pay the fee, asking me to sign many papers, asked me to call my friends/relatives. I had no sense that time, who care? When these clinics /hospitals asking about price and package, I suggest you just walk out. Tourist spots like Pattaya, Sukhumvit and Phuket are common full with such bloodsuckers.
