Is there a health or medical visa available? I'm currently undergoing treatments in Thailand, but it may take some time. Can I obtain this type of visa in Malaysia?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the availability of a health or medical visa for patients undergoing treatment in Thailand. It highlights the requirement of securing an appointment with a recognized hospital or clinic, which will issue a visa request letter necessary for application at the Thai Embassy in Malaysia. Furthermore, the visa may be extendable based on the physician's recommendation.

You need to confirm appointment and package with a well known hospital or clinic. Not every private or government hospital can do it. This is typically a tourist visa in purpose of medical treatment. Hospitals/clinics will provide you a visa request letter that you need to submit at Thai Embassy in KL. This visa can further extension depend on your physician.

When still in Thailand, is it not possible just get an extension of stay due to medical reasons ? (with prove letters of doctor/hospital ofcourse. I thought I read somewhere you can get max. 90 days then. If there are still medical issues, you can repeat the question at imm.

it depends, generally that's only if you are unable to travel

If you enter with Tourist Medical Visa, then you can get further extension. Usually 90 days granted. However it entirely depends on how long the physician wants to continue with patient. Rules and policies changes over time to time. Best is to clarify with the marketing team at the hospital about this matter. I saw in the past a patient stayed one year extension.

hospitals like Bamrungrad, Bangkok General and so on have intern’l marketing team. Just visit them, they will prepare all documents for you. All you need to do pay bills full in advance.
