IO has been asking for police clearance certificate to extend Non-imm O (marriage) in Bangkok. I extend stay permit based on married to Thai last 3 years. This is first time experiencing such requirement. Is this same to other provinces? Or new rule?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeking to extend their Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage in Bangkok has encountered a request for a police clearance certificate, which they've not experienced before in the past three years of extension. They are questioning whether this is a new requirement across provinces in Thailand. Comments from the community vary, with some users stating they've not encountered this request, implying potential tightening of regulations, and suggesting the user's previous permanent residency status may affect the situation.

Ok. Seemingly there is something in BKK that requires a police check for certain nationalities. I have no idea if this rule exists in other provinces.

You seemingly have to get it from the Special Branch unit by the Police Hospital on Sukhumvit.

no worries. I can get that. I got it in the past. I am just wondering why IO asking for it this related to extend stay permit. It’s been never asked in the past

I've never heard of it being asked for in that situation either which is why I wondered if there was some sort of cross over with your PR application
