Embassies and consulates can ask anything they want. They don't have to give any reason for their demand. It is the same throughout the world for any type of visa. The requirement is the minimum and only a guide.

Am not sure if yoga qualifies as Thailand's soft power. There is nothing Thai about yoga.

If you're making $10K/month (I assumed USD), travel the world, staying at least a month in a country. There is no hurry. Thailand is not going away.
