Thai visas/exempt entries are one extension per entry. No, you cannot extend it forever. Non-Os can extend it for ever using yearly extensions.

I think Myanmar may be safer because not many people go there and they are not going to become stricter soon. Taipei saw a sudden surge in the DTV applications and now wanted to put some quality control.
