 Please don't tell IRS it is a hobby. There is no category for hobbies in the vocabulary of the IRS. You must pay your taxes no matter what.

 Any time you stay more than 90 days in Thailand, you must do a 90-day report unless published in the regulations not required for a visa category. Nothing is published about 90-day reporting for DTV visas; that means you must report. I believe for LTR visas you don't need to do as of now.

Use an agent. In Pattaya it was guaranteed. Krungsi in Pattaya central was easy before COVID 19. I have three bank accounts but I have stopped using them. I exclusively use my US issued bank ATM for cash and CC for most purchases wherever possible, like
