Can I apply for a Thai DTV visa online from a different country than my citizenship?

Hello,

I am a Turkish citizen and I want to apply to DTV online, but I live in a different country and there is no consulate here. Do I need to be in the country where I will apply online, or is it sufficient to apply from my country of citizenship and prove that I am outside Thailand?

Note: I live in Northern Cyprus and I cannot select it as my current location because it is an unrecognized island. I have to choose Turkey.

Has anyone applied online from their country of citizenship while being in a different country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Turkish citizen residing in Northern Cyprus seeks guidance on applying for a DTV visa online, as there is no local consulate. Community responses suggest that applying from a different country than one's citizenship is possible but may require proof of residency in the current location. Some participants recommend contacting the consulate for clarification, while others mention using e-visa systems that might allow applications based on nationality, not residency.

I read a guy (a US citizen) got his DTV while residing in Ukraine, and he applied from Ukraine to his Thai consulate in the US. A US driver license can always be used for your permanent address in the US for EVISA applications in Thai embassies/consulates.

This may be possible but it would be risky. If I receive an email asking me to prove it was there, things could get difficult.

It should be okay, but send an email to the consulate and verify before paying the fee.

Your application I believe goes to the Thai embassy in Rome for processing. They recognise Cyprus as being the entire Island. So you should be able to enter your Turkish passport and your location as Cyprus

It is not possible for me to go to Rome. I think I will either apply in person from Türkiye or try the online Cyprus option.

I wasn't suggesting you go to Rome. I was saying that if you apply online giving Cyprus as your location it will be processed by the people in Rome

Ah, I didn't know that. Thank you for this information. I will think about it again.😳

You have to show you are resident in the country where you apply, or at least prove to be inside that country.

Otherwise everybody would just apply to Jakarta or Taipei from their home country without moving...

I think I have two options.Either I will go to Turkey and secure my job or I will take the risk and declare my address as Northern by choosing Cyprus online. Thank u

Isn’t Northern Cyprus only recognized by Turkey? All other countries consider it part of Cyprus? If so, when applying evisa select Cyprus

I can't reach the consulate phones either. Being in this dilemma makes things difficult.😕

I live in the northern part of the island and when I choose Cyprus I will probably be considered to be living in the southern part of the island. This will not be correct.

A logical option. The opening of the e-visa system is not a binding situation for the country we are in, right? For Turkish citizens, the opening of the e-visa is sufficient for online application. In other words, even if I am not in Turkey, I can apply online. I think it will be sufficient to prove my location outside of Thailand.

- you have to apply via the location you are present, not your nationality.

Ok thank you. I thought it would be more secure if I went to Türkiye and applied online.

@Dyg ****
- yes, you can fly to Turkey and apply

sounds like most counties (maybe Thailand) consider it all one, even if Turkey doesn’t.
