TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, married to a Thai national and currently in India, is seeking clarification on how to apply for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). Various commenters suggest alternatives like the Non-O visa, which allows for a year-long stay if certain financial requirements (such as having 500k THB) are met. Others mention that if the user's intent is to start a business, they would likely need a marriage visa or a work permit instead of a DTV, as the latter is specifically for remote work and does not permit employment with a Thai company. The conversation emphasizes the importance of understanding different visa types and requirements based on personal circumstances.

If you have 500k bht equalvalant in acc and if you can provide the evidence that you can manage your job remotely anywhere, then you can apply DTV. Otherwise you can apply Non-O loke other suggested.

If you want to do business within Thailand you will have to go though the process for a marriage visa which "comes with" a work permit (that you will need)

You need to read the visa section ot the Thai Embassy in your country, to see which visa you can fill the requirements for.

Is your intent to continue working while in Thailand?

my intent is to start a business in Thailand tbh

Anonymous participant then DTV isn’t for you. DTV doesn’t allow working in Thailand. You need a marriage visa and apply for work permit or business visa, not exactly sure but definitely not a DTV.

@Michael *******
DTV definitely allows working in Thailand, but not for a Thai company.

Just get a Non-O based on family visit. If possible, get a multiple entry Non-O; if not, get a single entry Non-O. You can also get a 60-day extension of your non-O. If you have 400K Baht in Thai bank, you can also get a one year extension. You can also spend the money immediately after getting your extension, unlike the retirement extension. So many options are available to you.

Don’t you have a bankaccount in your homecountry.

...so you don't need a DTV. Why do you want one

If you have a remote job you could qualify with bank statements, letter of employment, etc.

You can ask your spouse to sponsor visa . Theres a separate visa for such individuals- “Non Immigrant Visa- O”. Over the long term, thats might be more beneficial for your status.
