It's a typical government thing and Thailand do this often.

They throw out an plan or idea to the media with an optimistic delivery or build date and then once they look carefully at what's involved they have to revise or change plans..

Seen it happen many times over the years.

There are very limited work opportunities in Thailand for foreigners..

And you need an employer to sponsor you to get a work permit even for the very limited opportunities available to legally live and work in Thailand..

If you are a good English language speaker and especially if have some teaching experience then that's one of the very few job opportunities that are available in schools as an English language teacher.

There are others in highy skilled IT or management jobs for foreign companies in Thailand but you need the have experience and relative skills of course for those.

Salaries are generally low except perhaps for very specialized skills and jobs..

Good luck but you will struggle to find anything at all.

If you are asking can the visa exemption entry be extended ?

Then the answer is yes.

You can extend 1 time at any Thailand immigration office and pay 1900 Baht for 30 day extension..

If you overstay your visa exemption then you must pay a fine and the overstay will be recorded against your passport and that could affect your future entry to Thailand.

NO..

Forget about any ETA .

Not currently a requirement and not likely to be until later in 2025..

You will get 60 day visa excemption entry when you arrive..

Your day of arrival is day 1 of your 60 days regardless of the time of day you arrive..

So keep that in mind when calculating your stay.

DO NOT deliberately over stay your visa exemption

I have seen many posts on this topic and it kind of gets a little frustrating seeing the same question multiple times..

It's best to just look at the official Thailand government and immigration information and forget everything else..

That's the point I was trying to make not just for you but for others who may be reading this wonder the same thing.

WHERE ARE PEOPLE FINDING THIS BS about the ETA being required ?

It's not implemented yet and already deferred until who knows when next year..

And when it is released there will be plenty of information on the Thailand immigration and embassy websites..

FORGET ABOUT IT

And stop reading unofficial crap on the internet.

@David ******
I understand how the system works..

The question was referring to entry at the airports which as you point out can be quite different to land borders
Baz *********
@David ******
Are you referring to Visa runs to borders like Cambodia arranged by Visa agents.?

Because that's a different set of circumstances all together.
