TLDR : Answer Summary
As of December 2024, the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for Thailand has been postponed with no confirmed start date. It is suggested to check back in late January 2025 for potential updates, as the matter is to be voted on in parliament during that month.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be tdac.in.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Check at the website of the Thai Embassy in your country.

But you will have to check again 1-2 weeks before departure.

Last update on thai gov website Says June 2025

Most of these people don't bother to actually look and get facts 🤘

@Jeremy ********
It'll be before then I'd guess. It's being voted on in Parliament in January, and the government is keen to get the money rolling in! 😆
Jeremy *********
@Andy ***********
it's free to do according to their website 🤷‍♂️
Andy ************
@Jeremy ********
The ETA is most definitely free, but (there's always a but!) the government will use the online ETA application process to introduce the 300 baht tourism tax, which isn't free!
Jeremy *********
@Andy ***********
300 baht = 9 bucks oh no we all may go broke 🤦‍♂️🤣

You'll be surprised how many foreigners will meltdown over this!

the reason why I asked here is when I googled the ETA it gave me a few places to look at and 1 of those redirected me to 2 Thai government sites..1 was asking for money and the other didn't so I guess 1 was a scam and I reported it and now it has disappeared..why I asked the question here

@Dean *******
I've always went directly to the thai gov website and found it all easily 🤘

No and no date has been proposed either.

So your checking 3 months before? The answer now is no... But check again... In 3 months. 😏

What if you are a foreigner and a tax resident in Thailand are you still liable for this procedure?
Andy ************
@Rene *******
What's a tax resident got to do with an ETA? Geez, the posts are getting dumber by the minute! 😂
Rene ********
@Andy ***********
, I don't suppose you did history at school?
Andy ************
@Rene *******
Yep, but I didn't cover relationships between ETAs and tax residency 😂😂😂
Rene ********
@Andy ***********
ok, my bad, as long as they are free
Andy ************
@Rene *******
The ETA is free, unfortunately all tourists now have to pay a 300 baht tourism tax on entry, so the government is squeezing this payment into the ETA online application process! Good news is they will accept foreign credit cards finally! 👍
Rene ********
@Andy ***********
I seem to recall paying 14 or 20 bucks for an American one
Rene ********
Okay so if we are here permanently, say on a retirement Visa, do we have to pay the 300 baht tourist tax? I didn't get charged a month ago
Andy ************
@Rene *******
If you have a visa, you don't need an ETA, which is only for visa-exempt entries. The 300 baht is a tourism tax, retirees are now classed as tourists
Rene ********
@Andy ***********
as are the posters.....
Graham ******
@Rene *******
The plan was for Visa Exempt entries

Check back next month.
Andy ************
Check in late January. It's to be voted on in parliament in January, so probably wouldn't be introduced until March, but no doubt they're keen to get the money rolling in so it might be a "rush job" 😂😆
Donald *********
@Andy ***********
Said it was free
Andy ************
@Donald ********
The ETA is actually free, but the government is using it as a method for tourists to pay the 300 baht tourism tax. That's why the delay, it has to be passed by parliament
Baz *********
No, don't worry about it..

Postponed
