Most Embassies will grant you a ED-visa if you apply for Thai language classes as reason, but you will pay DTV visa fee.

But at the time you plan to move to Thailand, most of the rules will have changed, so investigate the options then, and not now.

It is not stupid, it is in your own interest that passport data can not be changed by anyone.

The passport data has to be writen exactly as in the machinereadable field at the bottom of the picturepage.

Errors can not be corrected, and application will be rejected and visafee lost.

If immediately rejected, then wrong passport data is the most likely reason.

That again is clearly stated on the Embassy website, that passport data has to be 100 % correct, and can not be changed.
