TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their Thailand e-visa application, which remains pending approval just three days before their planned flight. They have attempted to contact the embassy for updates without success. Commenters advise against booking flights until the visa is confirmed, emphasize the need to remain in the country where the application was made, and recommend checking embassy requirements. They also highlight the possibility of needing to apply for visas well in advance, especially for Nigerian nationals.

You didn't allow much time for things to process. All you can do at this point is wait...and, don't book a flight until you get your approval!

Wait, you just spent 6 months on a tourist visa and now trying to get what type of visa? DTV or METV?

Doesn’t matter where you’re from it matters where you apply from. If it’s from Ho Chi Ming, I had to apply twice and the 2nd one was approved a couple days AFTER a holiday.

Participante anónimo 337 your passport country DOES matter. The embassy website states some countries are subject to stricter vetting and longer processing times.

Notably some African states, North Korea, Syria, China (when applying outside of China), etc.

Nigerians (as most African countries) has extra restrictions on visa, so it matters where you’re from.

Read the Embassy website thoroughly, Nigerian nationals may need to apply 4-8 weeks in advance.

Here an example from the Danish Thai embassy, but similar is found on several other Thai Embassy website’s

Anonymous participant living there is not the same thing. Do you actually have a residence card because without one I don't think Nigerians can apply via a Thai consulate in Vietnam?

There was a very recent post in this group where a holder of a Tourist Visa ie a Multi Entry Tourist Visa was told to have it voided before they would proceed with the DTV application. You cannot have 2 visas at same time.

Anonymous participant That should be OK but still not much time for a DTV application in general. Some Embassies for certain passports have to send details to Bangkok for the decision. I do not know if Nigeria is on the list. If it is then it does take longer to process.

If you fly to Thailand the visa may be rejected on these grounds as you must remain present in the country of application throughout the application process

Anonymous participant - If you applied via the embassy in Nigeria, they say it takes at least 11 business days, but state it can take longer than that and therefore should apply 4-6 weeks in advance. Since the 12th was a Thai holiday, today is the 9th business day. If you are very lucky, the earliest you will get it is the evening of the 27tb

Anonymous participant honestly your expectations are totally unrealistic it's barely been eight working days. Furthermore regarding your METV, has it expired yet?

STAY where you are now UNTIL you have the decision from the Thai Embassy.

Which Thai visa are you applying for ? Your post does not say.

Are you applying for the DTV visa or for a Thai SETV single entry tourist visa ?

NEVER book a flight until the visa is approved. Many Thai Embassy websites tell the same.

Only thing to do now is to change the flight.

Those “status” messages you can not use to predict anything since they can change both ways.

well, it depends. Many embassies do require a real ticket + accommodation booking confirmation. Sure you can upload a dummy ticket, but your application can be rejected. The best approach is to book a fully refundable ticket or one with no penalties for date changes.

some embassies require to see a REAL ticket ti Thailand in order to give u the visa. The best option is to buy a full refundable ticket.

Participante anónimo yeah, me too. They wanted to see the actual e-ticket issued by the airline, not just any random booking.

Most are asked for INTENDED flightnumber, and flightnumbers are like busnumbers they tell a route, not a exact date and time.

Read more carefully next time.
