Sharing experience from Kathmandu, Nepal

29 July, Tue morning: Applied (along with Manager's cheque - because a direct online payment system is not in place)

29 July, Tue afternoon: Request document

30 July, Wed morning: Submitted additional document (in my case, accommodation)

30 July, Wed afternoon: Status changed from pending document check to pending approval

31 July, Thu: Got invited to an interview

1 Aug, Fri: Went to the embassy for the interview. The interview lasted for 5 mins. Questions were related to work and income. Was issued the visa right after.

---

3 Aug Sunday: Landed in Bangkok

(My original flight was 9 Aug thinking that it would take time but rescheduled after getting DTV.

Experience at the airport (DMK): I handed my passport along with a print out of the visa. No question asked.

I was already in BKK on a tourist visa. Flew on 27 July Sunday. Was planning to submit the application on 28 July Monday but it happened to be a Thai official holiday, so ended up having a "rest day". So basically, I flew on Sunday and came back the next Sunday. I could have come back a day earlier but that became another "rest day" after I found out the airlines I wanted to reschedule did not have a flight that day. All done within a week, regardless.

Why did I go to Nepal?

I am a citizen there. After I found out it's difficult for this "weak passport" holder to apply from a Thai embassy/consulate in countries other than the country of nationality, I did not have much choice.

On documents

Financial: Submitted six months statement. I had the required amount for each month.

Work: Submitted my contract, the job vacancy as advertised, resume. Also a cover letter in a merged pdf. Also mentioning my past travel history in Thailand.

Flight tickets, return trip (at the end of six months)

Accommodation: Hotel reservations from Booking.

Huge thanks to this group for sharing their advice and experience (especially this one on Nepal: [members only]/). I benefited from this group and posting this for the benefit of others.

How long is the processing time for the e-VISA through Kathmandu? The information on their website is not updated since when they were still using VFS Global Center, so I am seeking more up to date info from those who have recently applied.

Hello

I am from Nepal and am planning on coming to Thailand to give an interview for my F1 visa for USA since the country i live in the freshers intervew dates have gone past 2023 October which is not ideal for me as my classes start from 23 jan 2023 what is the visa rates for people like me and how are the VO’s in thailand how long do they take the interview for in my country we would hardly be given 1 min to talk and couldn’t be able to fully explain about us without the VO cutting our words thats why it’s mainly taken as a lottery as even the best applicants are rejected for some reason but somehow someone that dosent have a great application is accepted sometimes is the situation in Bangkok the same or is it different ?

Hi. I am a doctor from Nepal. I am currently looking for options to be at the United States for my exam that I must attend before summer ends. The US embassy's here and the neighbouring countries are yet to re-operate B1/B2 visa after Covid restrictions. Is it possible for me to gain B1/ B2 visa from Thailand or some other countries?

Thank you very much for your answers!!

Having looked at what countries might be opening up close by, I think Nepal will be opening it's borders on the 1st September, now if your like me and have a non b visa and a life here then It couke be an option to head there for me as I also work online, which I had to start due to closing me hostel on Koh phangan for the foreseeable future, 8t doesn't give Amy info on possible quarantines though or anything like that so I don't know if anyone else knows more about it? Or any other country I could fly too close by and wait it out till the government reopens the borders here as I'm not prepared to pay some crazy amount of money to stay in Thailand renewing a non b visa and paying social security for 4 Thai people when I haven't got any business coming in other than enough to get by from working online for now
