TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenges DTV holders are facing with banking in Thailand and whether they should consider transitioning to a retirement visa. Participants provide insights on the limitations of the retirement visa, such as restrictions on work, and share their experiences related to both visa types. Some express that the DTV visa may be more advantageous for those wishing to work remotely, while others comment on the general rights and protections in Thailand.

No need for a Thai bank, cards work fine no matter which nationality bank you have.

Who cares about having a bank account in a third world country where you have zero rights and protections

it may determine which Thai Embassy or Consulate in what country where you will be applying for any Thai Visa.

Which Thai Visa do you now hold?

For what purpose?

On what basis do you have the DTV? You can't work in Thailand on a retirement visa so if you do remote work stick with the DTV

not possible. If he is actually here on a Non-O as married to a Thai its possible to have a work permit but he would need to be employed by a Thai entity
Andi ***********
@John *********
He is not married to a Thai. He just said in his live.

@John *********

Are you sure he said he has a work permit and retirement visa? I have seen a lot of his stuff and like you say generally gives good advice.

yeah man , I’ll try find the video. I’m pretty sure it was a video with Mark from one stop visa.

Basically he said he had it because he earns money from you tube and that’s how he stays “legal” unless he said it to keep the you tube trolls off his back 🤷
Andi ***********
@Jef *******
He has done a lot in retirement vids, I assumed he was on a retirement visa and doing the tube in "secret" as others do
Jef ********
@Andi **********
