they are very similar. I have both and monitor their conversion rate and they are extremely similar after fees. Think of Revolut as a bank replacement and wise as only a currency transfer.

it didn’t really matter, I can apply in Hanoi. But I’ll be in Da Nang so still a long way for an interview

I agree. I’m about to apply in Australia from Brisbane, through the Sydney Embassy. That’s a 10 hour drive away so I won’t be going in for any appointments. About 10 days after I apply I have a month long trip in Vietnam what’s the difference!
