Normally on the shorter tourist visa, you need to show flight exiting country. Is a one way ticket into Thailand ok? It should be right, as you have 180 days to find a flight out?

TLDR : Answer Summary
For a shorter tourist visa in Thailand, having a one-way ticket may raise questions, primarily from the airline at check-in rather than immigration upon arrival. While some travelers report being allowed entry with a one-way ticket due to their valid visa, there is a consensus that booking a refundable return or onward ticket is advisable to avoid any complications, especially for those entering Thailand for the first time.

I see many people here said "I think", "I would say that", etc. To share my personal experience, since I got the DTV in August, I've already entered and exited (and entered again) like 4-5 times, always in one-way tickets both for coming and leaving.

When coming to Thailand, I wouldn't accept the airline telling me I can't board, as I have a visa which says it's valid for 5 year. When leaving Thailand, I go to my residence country, so of course a one-way ticket can't be even questioned as it's my country.

great, thank you. That is what I assumed, but just wanted to check. My next flight will be to Vietnam, not My Home country so I didn’t want to have to worry about booking a return ticket and keep changing the date.

It won't be imagration who ask, you have a visa. So they won't care. You could extend that time by a second 180 days. If you were to overstay in any way, I expect that will enable them to void your visa.

It'll be the airline who will ask, as you are they are responsibe for your return,,, if you don't have the correct paper work. But you do.

So when the check in airline desk ask for a return flight, just hand over your visa. This is an agreement with Thailand to enter. At that point the airline will continue. Ive already had exactly this twice.

They will ask for proof of return ticket if you have not been here before. Also it depends on which immigration officer 👮 receives your passport. Best to have a return ticket, you don’t want to risk it.

I would say there's a very good chance that immigration on your arrival will not ask for this as you could be staying for anything up to 180 days.

I believe when you fill out the form for the dtv Visa, there is a section in red that you cannot skip that asks for an onward flight or return flight.

I would recommend just to save stress. book a return ticket that is refundable.

Doesn’t need to be a return to the original destination to satisfy either the airline or Thai immigration. Just needs to be onward travel out of Thailand

Ask your airline

Depends on IO and Airline both

One may ask both may ask and neither may ask

I've never been asked for any onward travel Information
