if there's a dual tax agreement, you don't need to pay tax to Thai. But for the DTV if you stay longer than 6 months, I think you need to voluntarily tell them all the income that is brought here. Like you say, difficult to trace and ATM they seem lax with it. However,I think this Visa is a way to tax foreigners in the near future and they probably become stricter and link up better with immigration so tax dept knows who's here longer than 6 months (tax resident).

The border checkpoints are open. I'm doing a border run this week and the Visa company said it's business as usual. There was an incident on 28th, three days ago. Things have deescalated. So much fear mongering online, first the banks now this.
