@Tim *******
Exactly! If the Earth was flat how could Edmund Hilary ever have climbed Everest?

I've really no idea. You would have to read the DTA signed by Switzerland and Thailand, and ascertain your own residency status. What people don't realise is every individual situation is different.

You've been misled. Don't believe everything you're told. I've got a picture to proves the earth is not flat

I have investment properties in Australia so I will register a business which will "administer" the properties. A friend of mine hit on the idea a couple of months back. Essentially all he does is answer emails (which he's done here for years anyway - although previously technically illegal). I'm in virtually an identical position. Just think imaginatively and you'll come up with something

The beauty about the DTV is that it's nothing to do with immigration! It's immigration which give foreigners a hard time with their rigid approach and instant rule changes. For frequent travellers, the DTV is the SuperVisa, for those that just want to sit in Thailand forever it's the LTR. We can kiss the other retirement visas goodbye

But why? The whole point with this new government was to attract foreigners to stay for long periods in Thailand in order to add to the economy. And let's face it, even the cheap Charlies propping up bars waiting for happy hour are spending money. It's reaching its desired goal. There won't be any changes whilst people are streaming into the country

I know one guy made five dental appointments over two months in Bangkok and got a five-year DTV. It's so easy. There are templates online to write an employment contract. You simply register a business name (you can use a family member as a non-salaried "secretary") and that business gives you an employment contract. It's just as easy to write payslips (it's all legit). There's no minimum salary required, only the pittance 500k baht in an overseas bank account. Don't know why people are making this so difficult!

Students don't need a business! They sign up for a two-week cooking course! It's the easiest thing in the world to call yourself a "digital nomad". It can come down to responding to emails on behalf of a business. The DTV is the easiest visa ever to obtain. Everybody will be onto it
