Hi. Wanted to ask about DTV visa. If I get it approved (in saigon now), do I need to go to the embassy here (to stamp the passport), or is the approval email the end of the story?
22 April - Sent all documents and paid for the visa fee in the evening
29 April - afternoon, the embassy asked me additional information about the bank account where I gave my financial statement. I made a separate letter explaining that my bank used my initials as the name in my account, and indeed that is my personal bank account.
Evening, received an email from the embassy that my DTV request is accepted.
More or less, the process took 5 working days for me.
Many thanks to Settle in Abroad who helped me compiling the documents and answering all my questions. As a new digital nomad with only one client, I was at first pessimist on my success rate, but my experience proves otherwise.
Thai embassy in Sweden is amazing. I applied for the DTV visa online and two days after I received a request for additional documents. They asked for payslips and a letter verifying my remote work status. While my employment contract clearly states that I can work remotely, I also provided a letter from my CEO confirming this. I recieved my approval letter the same day I sent in the payslips.
DTV Approved in Vientiane, Laos with Soft Power route - Thai language and culture learning
Process: 3 business days
-8th April: Arrived in Vientiane on the morning and submitted the applications at 10am, rushed to the embassy to pay visa fee around 11am. Status: Pending Documents check
-9th April: Application status changed to Pending Approval at 2pm, received email at 5:50pm for interview on the morning of 10th April.
-10 April: Went to the interview at 10:40am, and got Approval 10mins after interview.
Smooth and no additional documents required, appreciate group for providing information 🙏
I am very interested in the experiences concerning obtaining a DTV visa based on soft activities. I have asked the Thai Embassy in The Hague whether, for example, a Thai Massage training also falls under this. I do not get a clear answer and am referred back to their site which is very vague. Who has experience with a DTV visa?
Hi...I'm Ken - a traditional 6 month tourist visitor to Thailand. Had to pay a 10k bribe to BKK immigration recently to come in from a recent visa run or they would send me back to where I'd come form. They said they Red Flagged my passport for needing a long-term visa the next time I visit.
- The Retirement Visa doesn't work for me because I'm rather mobile and after getting one I'd be forced to return to TH in person to renew at a certain time each year.
Been looking into the METV....
If I understand it right
- It allows for a 6 month stay.
- I'm allowed to stay the first time 60 days...which can be extended an additional 30 days.
- Then I can return after a visa run and start the process over.
Questions:
- Has anyone in this group ever gotten one of these?
Soft power DTV (6-month Thai cooking from Arun Thai) through the Chicago Consulate.
Applied on March 18th.
Pending Document Check morning of March 26. Checked again at noon - Pending Approval.
Received approval email by 3:45pm.
8 days total. No back and forth.
No income, but I submitted a brokerage statement which had the amount necessary instead of my personal bank account. I submitted my boarding pass from Taipei to Chicago as proof of location.
I’ve been so anxious reading the recent posts on here especially since I have already booked a ticket back to BKK in the beginning of April that I kept checking the status of my application everyday. I hope my experience can provide some people with relief during their application process.
