I don't know what happens if it goes wrong in Oz, but in Thailand, if you need drugs over and above what should be routine, everything has to be paid for on top, even antibiotics if an infection takes hold. I believe they quote on the basis of everything going to plan. Of course that is wishful thinking.
Just make sure you know the worst case scenario. The quote you get does not cover extras, or if something goes wrong. After that, everything is on top, if something does go wrong it can end up far more expensive than you would think. European private hospitals won't kick you out. Thai hospitals will, if the cash is not there.
