Update on UK passport application. Just got notification from VFS in Bangkok that my childs first passport has been delivered to them   and awaits collection. From being sent to the UK  processing and returning 23 days, so not too bad. The UK passport office is now on strike for a month so big delays now possible.

I have a British passport and I'd like to take my Thai wife with me to visit my English family in good old Yorkshire. Does anyone know if getting a British Visitor's visa for her would be problematic (lots of travel with me around Asia and Canada, no criminal convictions etc, owns a rice farm and house in Udon, 2 grown up childen and Ma and Pa in Udon )?

Does anyone know for sure whether you can or can't travel internationally while waiting for your new one? They didn't cut the corners of my current one saying they would do that when the new one arrives. There is no other marking so do they notify Thai Immigration?

Yes you can travel BUT VFS GLOBAL can only hold your new passport for 30 days before they must send it back to your home country

when you get your new passport you must take the old one and they will chop the corner off

as soon as you apply for a new UK passport, your old passport is entered into the worldwide database.

You cannot travel on it.

just at the airport now. I have an appointment on Saturday morning in the UK to collect my new passport.

I can't be messing around for 12 weeks or more to do it in Bangkok
