Report - 30 day online visa extension in Bangkok

I used this service to extend my stay in Thailand (I was applying for Non O which requires a mininum of 16 days left on your stay). I only had 15 days left, hence the necessity to extend for 30 days.

The program is run by VFS, they charge 500 baht for the regular service and after you submit the forms online and get confirmation you go to Immigration Changwattana 3rd floor to get the stamp. It's in a VIP area with no waiting. Its managed by the VFS staff not Thai Government staff.

The service was great. I was greeted by the English speaking manager who told me at the moment they only have around 5 customers per day. She also said they were negotiating with the authorities and it was likely they would offer a similar service for other Visa types in the future.

Edit: Laksi Sqaure 30 day extension is only for Visa exempt entries. Entry on tourist visa extensions are still done at Changwattana

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post provides a detailed account of extending a Non-O visa online in Bangkok through VFS. The author shares their experience of using the service, mentioning the cost of 500 baht and the efficient process at Immigration Changwattana with VFS staff. They clarify that the service is primarily for those with visa exemptions at Laksi Square and that tourist visa extensions still require a visit to Chaeng Wattana. Several comments discuss different aspects of the process, including confusion about visa requirements and alternative options.

your visa stamp in passport is it (ผ ผ 30)?

I did the whole thing online as well, 300 people squirming inline in second floor, third floor i was the only person there. Period. In and out 10 mins. Was thinking about making a YouTube video about it but i don’t want it overcrowded 😅 it’s literally a lifehack

@Marc ********
sir, where is “there”? IT Laksi, or Chaeng Watthana? The address I was given for my appointment is:

Immigration Division 1, 3rd Floor, Government Complex Building B (Chaeng Wattana)

So confused

@Sean ********
that’s the right spot, building B. Third floor.

30 day extension does not require this.
Lyndon ************
@Russell ******
that's incorrect. It depends on your visa or visa exemption as to where you go in Bangkok.

Visa Exempt - Laksi Sq

Tourist visa - Chaeng Wattana

noted, I will update my post.

Sounds better than paying an agent 15,000 baht for the same "service"
Marc ********
@Steve *******
I corrected it to 100b on 20 occasions. You don't care about 100b here or there you said.

So if you do that 20 times it comes up to 2000b right?

Good for you you use BKK. Not everybody lives in BKK
Steve ********
@Marc *******
The 100 baht will be positive and negative, so over a period of time it levels out. The majority of tourists are in Bangkok, plus I understand both CM and Phuket are pretty straightforward immigration offices, so I don't think too many tourists will suffer unduly! And I'll bet they will still be complaining about the 300 baht "tourist tax" as they hand their 2000 baht to an agent! 🤣🤣🤣
Marc ********
@Steve *******
I can only talk about Immigration in Jomtien. Always queues outside the building just to get a number there.
Steve ********
@Marc *******
That's life! Shame Jomtien doesn't have a booking system like most other immigration offices
Marc ********
@Steve *******
15k for an extention? I the most expensive agent I found wanted 6000b
Steve ********
@Marc *******
Lot of shysters out there brother. I pay 1900 baht year in year out
Marc ********
@Steve *******
you mean 15k for 1 year visa?

They talk about only 1 extention 30 days here.

So 15k for an extention for 30 days is robbery.

Nobody would pay that
Steve ********
@Marc *******
During covid one agent was charging 10,000 for a covid extension! They'll charge what people are stupid enough to pay.
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Yes covid was different. And covid extention gave you 60 days.

So then it was 5000b for 30 days.

But 15k for 30 days nobody would be stupid enough to pay
Steve ********
@Marc *******
You obviously haven't struck the real dummies yet!
Marc ********
@Steve *******
I did many in my life. But I am sure you confuse something here.

15k for a 30 day extention I don't belive it exists.

Maybe 1 crazy agent in whole Thailand charges this yes😃
Steve ********
@Marc *******
I've lived in Thailand for 23 years. Never once have I stooped to using an agent. Some people are so helpless they will pay anything. Trust me, I'm not confused. I know one guy paid
*****
baht for a fake volunteer visa. Got caught. Now on a five year ban. Another paid 50,000 for retirement visa (to avoid the money in the bank). Got caught. IDC, five year ban. And yes I know at least three who have paid
*****
for a 30 day extension. You have to understand stupidity knows no bounds. There are expats use agents for visas, marriage certificates, driver's licences, certificates of residence, bank accounts. I'm sure there's someone out there will ask if anyone knows an agent who will come wipe his backside. I shake my head in disbelief
Marc ********
@Steve *******
I am pretty helpless and especually lazy. I will use an agent.

But I would not in my wildest dreams pay 15k for 30 days extention.

The other examples you mentioned I believe.75k for a volunteer visa is not so much as it is for a whole year. So 75:12=6.25k call it 6k a month🤷‍♂️

50k for retirement visa is little bit high yes but I certainly believe people will pay.

But paying 15k for 1 month...

believe you me I shake my head in disbelief too😆
Steve ********
@Marc *******
I shake my head at anyone who uses an agent. I guess I had a good education and a fantastic upbringing where I learned to look after myself and not rely on other people. I could never consider myself that helpless to pay thousands of baht to someone to fill in a friggin form and spend about an hour a year at an immigration office. I guess I may be different to others, and the funny thing is the guy who forked out
*****
baht for a simple extension hasn't stopped complaining about the 300 baht tourist tax! Is it just Thailand that attracts so many stupid gullible expats?
Marc ********
@Steve *******
The one hour at immigration is not necessary correct.

More like 5 hours or more in Jomtien.

So depends how much one is willing to pay for avoiding standing in queues for hours🤷‍♂️
Steve ********
@Marc *******
I've never had to wait five hours. Usually an hour pulls it up, and fortunately Bangkok immigration has chairs, so it sounds like you've got a crap immigration office! But I still couldn't justify paying someone to carry out such a simple task. Even if it's
*****
baht, thar's 4000 baht an hour which is US$120 per hour. I'd rather take a book, sit there and think about what I'm going to spend the $120 an hour I'm paying myself. But hey, that's just me! Each to their own! Perhaps I'll use the money to go to the dual priced national parks that others whine about! 😆
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Idk where you get 20k from now.

Immigration it Jomtien it is certainly more than 1 hour. And you need to join queue just to get a number.

So paying 2100b for the service is not extremely bad for avoiding all the hassle🤷‍♂️
Steve ********
@Marc *******
There's a report elsewhere in this group where an agent wanted
*****
to do a retirement extension. There's no "schedule of fees" for agents. They charge what they want, and the mugs just hand the money over 😆
Marc ********
@Steve *******
That's a normal price for retirement visa. It is for 1 year
Steve ********
@Marc *******
It's for an hour or so at the immigration office!! The extension is 1900 baht!! 😆
Marc ********
@Steve *******
And having 800k in a thai bank you forget about that😆
Steve ********
@Marc *******
I guess I'm fortunate that I'm in a financial position where I don't have to pay bribes! 😆
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Obviously. But considering the money needs to be wired in the account as proof it came from abroad. Cannot just bring cash from back home and get a good rate at the exchange cabines. The trasaction fee plus bad converting rates from the bank will easily make it to 500$

500$ is not all that far away from 28kb🤷‍♂️

Unless immigration accepts bank slip withdrawing cash abroad and receits from the exchange cabines. I wonder if they would
Steve ********
@Marc *******
Small fluctuations don't bother me. It's swings and roundabouts. I have to bring money in anyway to live on. I transfer 85k every month. I don't "wire" anything, I use Wise. Very reasonable rates. Get a better exchange rate than what SuperRich pay. And it's legal. No bribes are paid. If you're happy to pay bribes it's good for you! Each to their own. I prefer to stay legal! 😆
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Any transaction you make online is not as good as withdrawing cash from the home bank bring it to Thailand and change it at the small exchange cabines.

You will lose an any online transaction. Wise or whatever. I am not so impressed with the fees of wise anyway

I have an account there🤷‍♂️😉
Steve ********
@Marc *******
Yeah but I don't travel to my home country every month! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Wise works me. I don't have an account, I just use the app to transfer the money and it shows as an international transfer. I've used it for years. Works for me. Trust me, I not in the position where I worry about a hundred baht here and a hundred baht there. I really couldn't be bothered. I'm here to enjoy retirement, not penny-pinch. But as I say it's each to their own
Marc ********
@Steve *******
If you are such in a good position and don't worry about a couple of hundred baths here or there...

Then I really don't understand how you cannot understandd people paying 2000b to an agent fot not having to go trough a day of immigration hassle🤷‍♂️
Steve ********
@Marc *******
2000baht? That'll get you a 90-day report done! 🤣. Won't get you a retirement extension! 🤣🤣🤣
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Not retirement extention of course. But it will give you a 30 day extention.🙈
Steve ********
@Marc *******
Wow!!! 🤣
Marc ********
@Steve *******
Yes either paying 2000b or joining queues at immigration for a couple of hours. Works out same as you not worrying about losing 100b on 20 different occasions😆
Steve ********
@Marc *******
I use Bangkok so no queues. A 30-day extension takes 20 minutes. I went with a buddy the other day. Not sure what the 500b on four occasions means but I'm sure you've got it covered! 🤣🤣🤣
Steve ********
@Marc *******
This guy did have 800k in the bank. I use the 65k/month method. You realise if you're caught out for any reason, you're on overstay? I just don't like paying bribes. But it's each to their own
Jack *********
We were just there yesterday. As an alternative, could you just do everything at that desk and save yourself 500 baht? Just wondering
Russell *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
You can no longer apply for the 30 day extension at Changwattana immigration. They will send you to a new offsite location (refer image.) If you go there you can join a regular queue and save the 500 baht. Not sure if it is chaos at IT Square Laksi or not.
Jack *********
@Russell ******
forgive me for my earlier statement, IT square actually where we went. There was a makeshift desk and I was actually trying to get more information about Non-O and they told me that I needed to go to the other immigration office. But I'm going to have to do an extension eventually. So I was wondering if I could just do it there next time. There was hardly anybody there. One person in front of us.

I arrived on a 45 day entry permit (not a 60 day tourist visa.). For my case I had 2 options, either go Laksi or apply online and avoid a shit show for 500 baht fee.
Phil ********
@Russell ******
Are you saying that a normal 30 day extension for a 60 day Tourist Visa is no longer done at Division 1 Chaengwattana ?

The 30 day extension for a visa exempt free entry is done at IT Square Laksi, which if one makes an online appointment for isn't a total shit show.
