Before I applied for my DTV I emailed the Thai consulate in HCMC asked for exactly the documents I needed, for Freelance consulting. To my surprise I got a very detailed email back. One of the points was that the minimum 500,000 baht requirement could be in any bank in any currency …..
Anonymous participant one thing missing from your above list, is a letter from your employer addressed to the Royal Thai Consulate General, HCMC, confirming that they approve for you to work remotely in Thailand.
This Embassy say they complete the application process in 5 working days, but it could be longer, if they need more documents, or request in interview. If they need either of the above, they start counting the 5 days again, from the day after they get the additional documents, or have an interview.
I uploaded my application on a Friday am, and paid the fee. E-receipt back within 1 hour.
Email request for more documentation I received on the same day, in the afternoon. So the response time is excellent at the Royal Thai embassy, HCMC.
The website application tacking system in my account showed as ‘requested more documents’
They requested:
1) pictures of all pages of my passport including blank pages.
2) examples of my Freelance work, experience and qualifications.
3) Highlight on my 6 months of Bank statements, the items that were income from my freelance work.
I completed all of this over the weekend, and uploaded into my account on the website, first thing on Monday morning.
The application tracking system immediately changes to Application pending document checking.
By Tuesday, the online tracking system changed to ‘Application pending approval’
By their time line counting system, Tuesday became day 1 of the application.
My application stayed as ‘Application pending approval for for 5 days exactly, so on Monday of the following week, I get the application approved email, and the e-visa attached.
From start to finish, 7 working days.
The only difficulty I had, was uploading all of the information in the upload portals. Each section only has 3 Mb of capacity, and only 1 file can be loaded into each portal. I had multiple files, for each section, so I had to save the multiple files into 1 PDF file for each section to be able to upload. It just took a bit of time to arrange all of that, making the actual application input time longer than expected.
Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, online application process time 10 to 15 days. Just keep checking everyday in your application account. Check your emails daily also, in case they request more documents
