What is the best neighboring country to apply for a DTV Visa from Thailand?
What is currently the best neighbouring country to go to from Thailand to apply for the DTV? Based on time it is taking and document requests etc. My friend is currently in Thailand and doesnt want to go back to the UK to apply.
Answer summary
The best neighboring countries for applying for a DTV visa from Thailand appear to be Vietnam and Indonesia based on community feedback. Many recommend Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam for its efficient processing, with reports of approval in just 6 to 10 days, including instances of additional document requests. Jakarta, Indonesia, is also noted for a smooth application experience, although it may require in-person interviews in some cases. Other suggested countries include Hanoi, Laos, and Malaysia, with Vietnam being frequently mentioned for its leniency in bank requirements compared to others.

Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam was a super smooth experience. Applied Monday evenjng, additional docs requested Wednesday and was approved by the next Monday evening

Just to add another point along with the other helpful comments, some countries require in-person interview like Myanmar and Laos.
Some countries are also more lenient with the bank requirements (if that is a concern for your friend) compared to others, such as Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia.

I recommend Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
I successfully got my DTV last month, 6 working days, start to finish, including submitting additional documents requested.
Excellent feed back from this Embassy

why not Laos ?Paul *********
because vientiane is a terrible place to be , Vietnam is way cheaper and has more things to see and do while you wait, and the waiting time is probably lower
