yes, this is true. I think the area that will become more strict is this silly soft power category where someone can get a 5 year visa for a doctors appointment or a 3 month muay Thai class. I just can't fathom that the person who thought of this was sober when they came up with this category. All the soft power categories can be done on a tourist visa. The workation / freelance category I can understand but even 5 years is long for that. I think they will require evidence of whatever you are doing when you extend / re-enter but who knows.

@Paul ******
some have reported that they wanted to see 500,000 in the last 6 months of their statements so how do you explain that?

@Paul ******
10,000baht in your account is the requirement. Some embassies vary in how they want you to prove it. Some want to see previous statements of 3-6 months. This is a fact, so it's not correct to say that just because the visa didn't exist that they aren't going to ask. Many embassies are asking for more than just your latest statement.

no one said you were dumb. Most are more concerned with the last few months so it's not a last-minute deposit and withdrawal. They want to see you actually have the money, so if you can't prove that you have had it for 6 months, you are probably gaming the system.

That is not an increase in the standard. It is one of the main requirements, always been there. More than 500,000 baht in your account.

Anonymous participant most people in here don't know how to be polite unfortunately. The internet has created this.

Why do you care and feel the need to be rude to someone on Facebook?

@Keron *****

someone else giving false information. No you have no evidence that an extension is 10,000 baht. Watch the video above where at 13:25 the guy from foreign affairs says its currently 1,900 but its under immigration. No one has extended the DTV yet.

@Sherif *******
ah, so you didn't ask an immigration officer. You just watched a youtube video. This is not an immigration officer. This is someone from Foreign Affairs. He does NOT say that the extension is 10,000baht. If you actually watch the video, at 13:25 seconds he says "currently the extension is 1,900 baht". People in the comments have no idea what they're talking about... Next time you reply please show actual evidence that the extension is 10k baht.
