Why are DTV applications being rejected at the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh?

As far as I know, today there were several DTV applications rejected at the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Embassy didn't announce the rejection reason.

It seems they are treating the DTV application very strictly and very seriously

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent reports indicate that several DTV (Digital Work Visa) applications have been rejected at the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with no clear reasons provided for the denials. Community members speculate that stricter measures may be in place due to previous laxities, while others highlight that not all applicants face difficulties, with some receiving approvals relatively quickly. The conversations reflect concerns about the lack of transparency in the rejection process and varying requirements among different embassies.

That’s good,if they do it strictly…I red some posts already,of people who try everything to get it…with applications to some courses,they really never doing.
Lyle *********
If you don’t have specifics, it might not be that it’s strict but rather that several people did not follow the instructions / provided necessary documents

For example - I would imagine some people would not have had 500k baht sitting in their acc for the last 6 months
Paul *******
@Lyle ********
That seems like a strict requirement. Phnom Penh does not seem to require 6 months of account seasoning but Laos does.

Try a different country that uses eVisa and submit the required docs yourself.

Any work cation applications done in Vientiane or Savannakhet without 6 months of 500K, you're not getting one. Unless an agent helps you that is.

In such countries, I understand they use a centralized database for visa issuance and that it can take up to 30 days. I don't see it as an improvement.

HCMC, Vietnam is moving to the e-visa system next month.

@Paul ******
The 2 guys that I've spoken with from the US received their Visa's within 15 days using only the documents stated on the consulate website, nothing extra as Vietnam requires. If someone wants to snag the DTV quickly then go through Laos and not jump through hoops at the Vietnam consulate.
Paul *******
@Shawn ************
Laos is the one asking applicants to jump through hoops. They're requiring 6 months of funds being parked in your account. Vietnam only requires 6 months of statements.
Shawn *************
@Paul ******
I only know one guy who went through Laos last week. They asked for a current bank statement, not 6 months.
Paul *******
@Shawn ************
A number of reports on this and other FB groups of people getting denied for not having 500,000 Baht parked for a minimum of 6 months.

One guy just got denied in Vientiane for transferring funds over 28 days ago.

I'd only go to Vientiane with an agent or if I had funds and bank statements to prove it of minimum 500K over 6 months.
Shawn *************
@Paul ******
that's bullshit. I've had in person conversations with the guy in BKK that recently received his visa and he said nothing about using an agent.
Shawn *************
@Paul ******
What guy? What DTV were these people going after? The reports I've read and guys I've actually spoken with have not had any issues getting the DTV for remote work with only a current back statement.
Paul *******
@Shawn ************
They probably applied in Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta or elsewhere, where it's easy. Vientiane and Savannakhet are very strict on finances. You can't just transfer the funds over a week or even a month beforehand. Works elsewhere but not in Laos.
Paul *******
This post doesn't give us much to go on. Some specific examples would help. Besides, a Burmese person just received a visa from Phnom Penh quite easily.
Paul *******
I'm under the impression the most difficult consulates to deal with are Vientiane and Savannakhet, as they're insisting on 6 months worth of 500K minimum throughout this period.

That's all I know. I cannot know in detail what is in their application or what they have submitted. Each case is unique. I just want to let everyone know that applying for a DTV in Phnom Penh is not as easy as we think.
Paul *******
Well, that Burmese guy that posted the other day made it sound very easy (of course you need certain documents). Assuming you have 6 months worth of statements with a closing balance of at least 500K, a work contract or certificate, plus company registration and it helps to show proof of company website etc then you'll probably be fine.

Sure. I read it.

I hope we become our visa in 2 days in PP.
Kaye ******
Well. I can see this coming 10 days ago while loads of people started getting this Visa in 5 -7 days. All the sudden everyone can pay for a whatever class and get 5 years visa. Probably some elite visas applicants are so upset and complaining. That’s why.

I am not moving there end of this year BUT I SAW THIS COMING, play very safe and get it last week. Phew…..

As far as you know? It might help if you had some actual examples

My application was approved in 4 days, and my wife’s application as a partner was approved in 10 days. I think it's relatively loose

As they should

Every man and his dog is applying for this visa, so of course there's going to be rejections. Only 99% of the world's population are "content creators"! 😂
Lyle *********
@Roberto ********
don’t think so, outside of Thai visa & digital nomad communities no one is even talking about it 😬 most people are your normal 14 - 30 day holiday goers
Roberto *********
@Lyle ********
You'd be surprised! It's selling like the proverbial hot cakes. It's not aimed at two week holidaymakers, but those looking at staying 90 days or more every year.
Kevin ******
Why would they not treat them very strictly and very seriously?
Karst ***********
@Kevin *****
yes if you ask me its always the case and simply a very formal procedure
Mitch *********
Can you please share more information?

Did applicants already pay for the visa and now the fee is non-refundable?

What do you mean they didn’t announce the rejection reason? Did they simply refuse to accept the application?

Or they accepted everything, reviewed, and denied the visa after their 5-day processing time.

Remote work or soft power?

The fee was refunded.

The remote worker's application was rejected after 5 days.

As mentioned earlier, they didn't provide any reason for the rejection.

You can find more information about this in the group. There are many knowledgeable and experienced members :-D

@Mitch ********
It’s sort of a useless post as it tells us absolutely nothing
Greg ********
Well the PP Embassy was the one where agents said they were working with the embassy and could guarantee approval for a price. Maybe someone has been caught?
Graham *******
I suspect they are tightening the requirements because they were too lax, open to abuse and not transparent enough. Did you put your actual name on the application, or did you wish to remain Anonymous

@Graham ******
Why do you care and feel the need to be rude to someone on Facebook?
Greg ********
@Graham ******
This was the embassy agents said they were working with the staff. I am sure those tales get around and the MFA would not be happy not the MFA staff????
Graham *******

@Graham ******
It was on WhatsApp an agency contacted me and offered 100% success in PP. Stated they were working with Embassy staff. Not these agents. Just a wild guess but it might have been local hires ie Cambodians working for the Thai Embassy. All Embassies have local hires. If the MFA staff got wind of it they might just out a stop to it as it could affect their future careers.

I've responded to you politely so you can shut up and enjoy your peaceful evening. Whether I post anonymously or not, is my business, and if you're the group admin, then speak up, otherwise, get lost. I don't know where you're from, but I thought someone with a beautiful name like yours would know how to be civilized, polite, and humble. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Anonymous participant most people in here don't know how to be polite unfortunately. The internet has created this.
