I've just returned to the UK having been in Chiang Mai for 5 months and am so pleased to have clean air and no ac and filters running . It is a shit show here now though, so I understand the OP's desire to get the hell out!

Good for you, Thomas. I spend a lot of time in Thailand. Many things are considerably cheaper than here in the UK and really appreciate being able to eat out from time to time and have massages etc. But I'm glad I have a hut in the UK to get away from the pollution and heat. Also, it's great to be understood in everyday life - Thai was too hard for me to learn!
