Yes, the embassies will not book a semi commercial flight for you. Embassies will only book reparation flights which have been discontinued in most countries that now have resumed 'semi commercial' routes.

Yes. Another nightmare. I was going for the retirement OA but it seems the 65,000 THB has to have been going into a Thai account for a year. I have evidence of its going into my UK account but maybe that won't be enough.
