Can you be asked to produce any of the 3 of's upon re-entry for this type of visa ? 20k cash, proof of residence or onward ticket ? Can immigration insist you spend at least one night out of the country ? Heard some Thai/Malay border points can be "difficult" if they want to make a point

That's the one and if you do a border bounce just before the visa expiry date you get a full 90 days which effectively gets you almost fifteen months

Are you legally required to cancel it ? Surely if you leave without a re-entry permit that immediately cancels it on exit. Or if there is even a remote chance of returning buy a single re-entry permit for 1000 baht , if you come back before expiry - no visa required. If you don't it runs its allotted time and expires naturally

Thanks I thought that was the case but friend with the visa was sure he had to extend after one year irrespective of exits

The certified copy of ID you refer to simply means she signs the copy. Photocopy of front & back of ID card and her signature underneath

Recently changed ? Had 2 back to backs from UK but didn't go home in November so just extended thru immigration , not a problem but a pain in the ass. Letter from Embassy, photos not good enough , home visits & reams of paperwork. How long before Laos follow suit ?
