Hi everyone.

I have heard that you can get a Thai non-o marriage visa from Savanakhet in Laos without having to show your bank details. Has anyone done this? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Non-O marriage visa can indeed be obtained from Savannakhet in Laos without the need to show bank details. Applicants need to provide necessary documentation including an original marriage certificate, signed copies of the marriage certificate, the Thai spouse's ID card, house book, the applicant's passport data page, and passport-sized photos. The visa cost can vary, with payments of 2000THB for a single entry or 5000THB for a multi-entry visa. It's worth noting that a multi-entry visa will require border runs every 90 days.

alright there is no difference in the documentation needed at either Vientiane or Savannakhet for the 90 day single entry Non-O based on marriage

you need the original marriage certificate (if married in thailand it's the one with the rose border)

you need copies of:

front&back of the original marriage certificate

front&back of your thai wife's i/d card

thai wife's house book listing

data page of your passport

lao visa and entry stamp

2 passport sized photos and a filled out application

you sign everything with your name on it, your wife signs everything with her name on it meaning you both sign the marriage certificate

Those things and 2000baht get you a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on marriage.

@Steve ******
yes 60 day's on each entry into Thailand.

You can get a 60 days extention on top of the 90 days giving you even more time to season the 400k

@Tod ********
handy to know if your waiting for the 400k to season.

And you need to get the paperwork together.

90 day could be what somebody needs .

More than the 60 days visiting the wife extra 30 day's.

Good to know.

a single entry 90 day Non-O visa means you get into the country ONCE on that visa and get stamped in for 90 days. Then you either apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office by meeting the financial requirements and providing the documentation OR you leave the country and get a new visa,.

showing 400k in a thai bank or not

@Tony ********
with the single entry, do you just have to do 90 day reports at your local immigration office yeah? Meaning no need to border hop every 90 days.

The main difference between Vientiane and Savannakhet is that the latter will issue a non imm O multi entry visa
Tony *********
Ho Chi Minh will give a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage from them.

original marriage certificate

copies of:

front&back of the marriage certificate

front&back of your thai wife's I/D card

thai wife's house book listing

data page of your passport

You also need a letter from your wife asking that the consulate issue the visa.

Remember the thai consulates in Vietnam ONLY take US dollars and the year-long, multi-entry Non-O is $200 USD

To get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage to a thai from the consulate in Savannakhet you need

the original marriage certificate (if married in thailand it's the one with the rose border)

copies of:

front&back of the marriage certificate

front&back of your thai wife's i/d card

thai wife's house book listing

data page of your passport

lao visa and entry stamp

(you sign everything with your name on it and your wife signs everything with her name on it meaning you BOTH sign the marriage certificate copies)

you need 2 passport sized photos and the filled out application along with 5000baht. You turn in your application one morning before 11:30 and you pick up your passport the next afternoon after 1:30

Only your wife needs to sign the copy of the marriage cert and no need for copies of your entry into Laos but obviously it's not an issue.

Is this visa a 90 multi entry visa that is good for one year where you have to border bounce every 90 days ?
David ********
That's the one and if you do a border bounce just before the visa expiry date you get a full 90 days which effectively gets you almost fifteen months
Craig *********
No. Just Savannakhet and Ho Chi Minh as far as I know
Tony *********
@Craig ********
you don't have to show fund at them two.

But HCMC want US $ and a letter from your wife asking to give you the visa.
Amir ****
Wonderful info. Is Vientiane have same requirements ?
Steve *******
@Tony ********
Well, the single entry only gives you 90 days in Thailand, if you want to stay longer then you need to apply for an extention of stay
Tony *********
Do you just get 90 days
Tony *********
@Steve ******
yes on the multi entry non o

What about the single entry non o from Vientiane
Steve *******
@Tony ********
With the multi entry non imm O you have to leave the country every 90 days or apply for an extention of stay
Tony *********
@Steve ******
so do you have to leave Thailand every 90 days on that.

Or report to your local immigration office.
Steve *******
@Amir ***
Yes but Vientiane only issues the single entry non imm o visa based on marriage
Craig *********
I did it just last week. Very easy
