Just done a visa run to Kanchanaburi, so I thought I'd share my experience in case it helps any other newbies to Bangkok.

Met agents at On Nut KFC at 4am. Once everyone was there, we set of at 4.15am. It was a 9 seater VIP minibus with reclining seats.

The journey took 3 hours, with a 10 min stop for refreshments along the way.

Stamped out of Thailand at the border and gave passports to the agent. They filled out TM6 forms and took photocopies of passport page for Myanmar Immigration. Signed TM6 and photocopy and proceeded to pickup which took us all through the border and into Myanmar, Waited by some little shops for about 15 mins while the agent sorted out the passports and then back to the border complete with Myanmar entry and exit stamps. Queued for about 20 mins at Thai Immigration and then stamped back in for another 30 days.

Back into the minivan at 9.30am and back at On Nut at 1pm.

Cost = 1900 baht

Yes this is near the Myannmar Border near the Death Bridge. Its just stamp out of Thailand and stamp back in the same day so you get 30 days Visa exemption by Land Border. This option isn't for Tourist Visa

You should not be advertising agents on this group, it is the golden rule (1 of them). Shortly this post will vanish.

I think minibuses go from victory monument, but for the sake of a few more baht, I preferred to get a door to door service.

You can if you can get there. The issue is there is quite a substantial distance between the Thai border post and the Myanmar one, several km along a dirt road. You could possibly do it if you had your own transport, don't know if you can take a motorbike in though. If you make your own way to the border at Ban Phu Nam Ron (there is a regular public bus from Kanchanaburi), there is a "taxi service" there that will take you over to Myanmar, IIRC around 800-900B including the cost of the Myanmar stamp (theoretically $

B on its own). It may be difficult to get back as well, I ended up hitchhiking. The border really is in the middle of nowhere.

Never again for me. Absolutely terrifying last time. Had to tell him to stop and go get a plane from Udon Thani. (was on the Laos one)

Major question is: did the minivan drive at breakneck speeds?
