Look around forums and you will see other people also had the same experience. Happened to me. Happened to others. So unless you were denied entry by an IO for having less than 6 months, or have others denied entry into Thailand by an IO then you are the one who is wrong. Visa applications need 6 months, most airlines will deny boarding if less than 6 months, but border IO do not.

A belief based on my experience and that of others. Airlines have their own rules. If border bouncing passport validity is the usual.

not true. Thailand allows entry andcwill stamp you in up until passport expiry date.

then you are betting 3 weeks of time that they won't be rejected in Canberra. They are very fussy. A 10 minute trip to Sathorn from the embassy is a better bet.
