What should I expect when arriving in Thailand with an unprocessed Non-O visa?

Just flew in to BKK. My Non -O had not been processed in time. All the IO did was check that I flew in from my home country. Gave me the 60 days and told me to apply earlier. I have had multiple entries this year including a border bounce. Her supervisor saw the Thai children birth certificates in my hand and told her to let me in. Legitimate reason doesn't seem to cause a problem.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon arrival in Bangkok (BKK) with an unprocessed Non-O visa, travelers may receive a 60-day entry stamp if they can provide a legitimate reason, such as having children in Thailand. An immigration officer may be lenient if extenuating circumstances are presented, as highlighted in the user's experience. Comments from the community discuss the importance of traveling directly from one's home country due to immigration profiling and ask about the implications of multiple border crossings and visa extensions on the visa exemption process.

Dose not matter. Flying to Thailand from your home country makes you not fit their profile of who they are screening for.

How many land crossings and how many extensions on visa exempts do you have in 2025 ?

2 visa exempt entries. 1 extension, 1 Cambodia border bounce, 1 90 Non O (used)

Also, wondering why is it necessary to fly from home country? Is this the case every time??

@Sophie ************
the mention of flying in from the "home country" is due to the Thailand 'crackdown' on cybercrime affecting Thailand as a country and foreigners who are either participants or victims of the associated human trafficking. The recent announcement from Thai Immigration, mentioned that if foreigners enter direct from their 'home' country, they're a lot less likely to come under scrutiny. It's not necessary to enter from one's own country, but if entering from another country, there will likely be more questioning about their reasons for travel and entering Thailand.

there is no requirement that you enter from your home country, they are just mentioning it,

It does present a good "FACE" of intent. When things can be extremely subjective sometimes little things make a big difference. Just saying.

they WERE IN their home country applying for a Non-O visa to come back to thailand, they applied too close to the date they were flying and the visa wasn't approved in time, so they came in free stamp 60 day entry and once the visa is approved they will exit/re-enter to activate the Non-O 90 day visa

Good to know that a valid reason to enter visa exempt will work

Thanx for the update.

According to point 1 there seems not as much an issue if returning from your country of Domicile

you would be hard pressed to find something more vague than that gobbledygook. Talk about not spelling things out clearly ๐Ÿ™
